We Made the MOVE!!! HELLO Leland, NC!!

Saturday, December 28, 2013 - Posted by Jess at 4:32 PM
Hi Friends,

I know it has been a bit since I last blogged. This summer has been a summer of change and adventure! We had sold our house back in our home state of Indiana at the beginning of the summer. That left us without a permanent residence for a few months. So my family and I took a ride in our Big Blue Bus, traveling around enjoying new places and faces!  (check out our blog-www.bluebird-travels.tumblr.com for info about our trip) One of our stops was in Wilmington, NC. My husband and I have been vacationing in NC for several years and always enjoyed it, so we looked around at homes for sale and found one in a town just outside of Wilmington called Leland. Loved it. Close to the beach but still had the small town, country feel we like. Well we decided to take the plunge! So here we are! Now going with the theme of change and adventure I am going to be opening in the near future my own YOGA STUDIO!!  Soooo excited! I will be hosting classes and private sessions. So look for updates on the progress of the studio. Lots of work to be done, but it will be great to have a space to share what has given me so much in my life! Hope you all can join me! But in the mean time if you are in the area and would like a private sessions please contact me and I can travel to your home or where ever you have space! See you all soon.
                                                                            Much Love-

                                                                                           Jess

Say Hello to your Certified Therapeutic Yoga Instructor!

Thursday, October 3, 2013 - Posted by Jess at 2:15 PM

Last week was one amazing week! I studied with two very inspiring teachers, Cheri Clampett and Arturo Peal of Therapeutic Yoga. You can check out their website at www.therapeuticyoga.com. If you are not sure exactly what Therapeutic Yoga is, it is an amazingly effective practice that combines restorative yoga poses, gentle yoga, breathwork, hands on healing and guided meditation. This blend helps bring the body into balance and reduce stress when you are recovering from/ or living with an injury or illness; or just need some stress reduction. Who couldn't use that! :)

My own experience was quit intense and much needed. First off, the gentleness in spirit of Cheri was healing all on its own, but the intelligence of the training was great. She helped me to understand just what "healing" meant. As you know, my family and I have been traveling for several months and will continue for about a year. All of this travel brings out the Vata nature in me!! And there have been times in our travel where I have felt very tightly wound and really needed some relaxation and grounding, (which doesn't happen often when you are in a constant state of motion as well as homeschooling two energetic boys. Not a whole lot of me time!:)  ) So when getting to work with others during the training, being the giver and the receiver, was so incredibly healing to the spirit. So now I feel on fire!! Can't wait to share all of this unbelievable experience with others!

As well as getting to learn the healing nature of Therapeutic yoga, I received great knowledge and information about the human body from Arturo.  Arturo was great at making the Anatomy portion understandable and fun to learn.  And after several courses and books on anatomy, I feel like I understand what I have learned!!  But of course there is always more to learn!!

I am so grateful for the experience and for my wonderful husband for helping out for the week with the kids! So now I can say I am official! I am a Certified Therapeutic Yoga Instructor, at your service! Can't wait to share this practice with you. Call me or email if you are interested in a session. See you soon!

Here is Cheri and I! Thank you for everything Cheri!

Maine-dala!

Thursday, August 29, 2013 - Posted by Jess at 6:00 AM
For the past year or so I have been painting alot more. My creative side has resurfaced and I am really enjoying creating new artwork. I was really intrigued by the Mandala, so I have been teaching workshops with Yoga and the Art of the Mandala.

So since we have been traveling I have wanted to continue creating and was inspired to make Mandala's that represent the places we have traveled. So far I have created one for our travels to Maine. Alot of the objects are found in nature around Maine, but also represent family and new friends that were there. Hope you enjoy!

Where to practice????

Posted by Jess at 5:52 AM
While traveling I still try to keep up my daily practice. Which sometimes can be a challenge. Not so much as wanting too, because I usually always want to practice. But trying to find space on a converted school bus is sometimes hard to come by. I am a mother of two boys, whom I homeschool, and there's my husband and several pets on board. So there is always someone here or something to do. So I have to get creative with where to practice. Currently we are at a campground in Wilmington, NC. Very nice campground, but where we are parked the scenery isn't the greatest. But I guess you take what you can get. So thought I would share my practice space with you this morning! :)
