What is Therapeutic Yoga?

The word Yoga means "union" or "to yoke". So when we practice yoga in its entirety; the eight limbs of yoga; we begin that union to our mind, body and spirit. And in doing so we begin to have health in every aspect of the word! Yoga is so beneficial for health in ways that modern science is just beginning understand. Even though it has been applied with healing intentions for thousands of years. More and more health care practitioners are starting to include yogic techniques in their approach to healing.

Techniques used in Therapeutic Yoga are adapted from traditional yoga asana(postures),pranayama(breathwork),meditation and visualizations work to help individuals facing health challenges at any level that are not easily addressed in a group class setting. Yoga in and of itself is not a "cure all" but works in conjunction with what your health care providers plan is for you! Medical research shows that Yoga  is among the most effective complementary alternatives for several common ailments.
